Cassius Clay’s Hardest To Find Cards

One of the things that makes Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali cards challenging and rewarding to collect is the extremely low pop counts on nearly all of his early cards from the 1960’s and 1970’s. You could argue that the large majority of his cards on the PSA registry are HTF in comparison to other highly collected athletes from the 1950’s and 1960’s, and laughable in comparison to the pop counts of modern-day cards. The entire PSA population of all Cassius Clay cards from the 1960’s is just 1,297 which covers 40 different cards and variations. For comparison’s sake, there are 1,813 PSA graded 1952 Topps Mickey Mantles. If you want to buy a Cassius Clay card from the 1960’s, on average there are roughly 32 graded copies of each card in existence on the planet today. This is comparable to finding a rare Jordan insert from the 1990’s. The cards on this Ultra Rare list however are Cassius Clay’s rarest of all (release date pre-1980 with a PSA total pop of 10 or less).
